WE BUY GOLD
Established in 1976, Liberty Jewelers started Liberty Gold and Silver Exchange. We have had a number 1 rating with the Jewelers Board of Trade for decades and have won the Greater Malden’s BEST JEWELER AWARD for the past 13 years in a row. We pay up to 100% of the actual gold market price for that day for 24kt gold.
TIPS ON SELLING YOUR GOLD
Sell to a reputable long time established local Jewelry store. Don’t sell to hotel /motel dealers who come and go. Don’t mail your gold away and hope to get the best price. TV reporters did a survey and found the payout for consumers was far less than reputable local jewelry stores.
Know your Karats. Look for the karat mark, which will tell you that the piece is real gold and the percentage of pure gold it contains. Pure gold, or 24K, is rarely used because it is soft and easily damaged. Instead, gold is alloyed with other metals, such as copper, silver, nickel and zinc to give it strength and durability. Different proportions of these alloys also give gold its rose, green, or white coloration. 18K gold is 75% gold, 14K is 58.5% gold and 10K is 41.6% gold. The higher the karat, the richer the color will be and the more valuable it will be.
Reputable gold buyers will have gold karat testing equipment and will show you the test procedure in front of you. We find acid to be much more reliable than the electronic equipment some gold buyers use.
Your jewelry may be worth more than its weight in gold. Your piece may be an antique and be worth more than just its weight in gold because of the workmanship. Some pieces can be resold in an Estate Department. Be sure the jeweler has an Estate Department and is knowledgeable in older jewelry. This is where an expert can determine if a premium is due for the item. The jewelry may contain gemstones such as diamonds, sapphires, rubies and other precious gems. High grade gemstones could also bring a premium.
